About Alternative Health Insurance Services

Alternative Health Insurance Services is an independent health insurance brokerage company established in 1985 by Steve Gorman.

After spending many years in the natural foods industry, Mr. Gorman recognized the value of alternative medicine and natural therapies.  He established Alternative Health Insurance Services with the goal of making these benefits available to more people.

Mr. Gorman has developed health plans for individuals, businesses, associations, and labor unions, and has been featured in numerous publications, including the Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Congressional Quarterly Researcher, Kiplinger's Personal Finance Magazine, and many others.

More recently, state and federal mandates have resulted in many insurance carriers exiting the health insurance market, and we have developed innovative ways to provide complementary and alternative medicine benefits to clients.

As an independent broker working with many insurance companies, we don't have to convince you that any one company is the best for everyone.  Different people have different needs and we have the knowledge and experience to help you find the health insurance plan that will work best for you.

You will pay the same price for your health insurance through a broker that you would pay if you went directly to any health insurance company.  Independent agents and brokers, such as Alternative Health Insurance Services, are paid a commission that is included in all health insurance premiums. When you deal directly with a health insurance company, that commission is paid to a "captive agent".
